   Hello everyone! 

In addition to our tool named Timeline which i presented with my dear friend Ayşenur in class, now i will introduce another tool named Microsoft Office Publisher which was presented again in our class by my lovely friends Ezgi and Hatice. 

Microsoft Office Publisher is part of Microsoft Office productivity suite. It enables its users to create many publications by means of templates. It is an editor and a layout tool for creating leaflets, postcards, newsletters, e-mail newsletters, greeting cards, etc.

   So now let's start to introduce the tool: 

When you open the tool, it offers you a menu which includes many templates such as calendars, greeting cards, flyers etc.After selecting your template, you can decide among many options according to your task which you are supposed to do. You can also change colors or text font from this part. When you are okey with it, click on create. 

In this part, Home menu enables you change the font, font size, text color. You can also make selected text bold or you can underline it. You can also make the text to be on center, right or both right and left margins.

By using insert menu, you can enrich your publication. You can insert images, clip arts, text boxes and so on.

Finally, what ı want to say is that you can print your product or send as PDF or XPS from the file tab without so much effort.

How the Publisher can be used in language teaching ?

• Students can be asked for creating a mother's day/ father' day greeting cards. They can write their message and insert their photos with their mother or father. 
• Students can create a friendship card for their friend's birthday present. They can add some photos with their best friends. They can write about the amazing days which they passed through together. And they can publish it and give to their best friends. Students will really love it. 
• As a teacher you can create reminders with greeting cars.
• Or you can want their students to create a brochure about a country which they want to go.They can add images and write short descriptions about them. They will also love this one.

WHAT IS A TIMELINE ?

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since i last wrote a post. But do not afraid! Today again i am here with a tool named TIMELINE in Turkish "Zaman Çizelgesi" for you. I and my dear lovely friend Ayşenur presented it in our class for our classmates. For us, it is a very useful and enjoyable tool. We had a great time while studying it to present and also while presenting it. So we hope that if you are a teacher, you use it in your teaching career. Now let's start with these questions: What is the Timeline and How is it used ? and finally i will finish my post with some suggestions for its use in language teaching.

I want to start with a video which i and my friend Ayşenur made for you to understand the tool better. If you first watch the video and then read my introduction, you will get it more easily, believe me.

What is the Timeline and How is it used?

A timeline is a graphical representation of related items or events in sequential order and displayed along a line. You can organize your timeline by date,time or event.

When you open the tool you will see a screen like that. You can select the option that you want. You can click on date, time or event option to view examples.To start choose one of them and write your name and give a project title.

These are the three examples which the tool gives you when you click to date, time or event.

When you click on the question mark which is stated at the right side of the screen you will see the instructions. It is important to read it because the information in it are very useful.

After understanding this part you are ready to start. Click on start and you will see a screen like that. Click timeline to add items.

 

After clicking you will have to fill some blanks. You have to write a label, a short description and if you want to print out you can also write a full description. You can also add some images which will make your task look more enjoyable.

After adding an image you can frame it. You can also rotate,scale and position your image. When you are happy with it, you should click ok.

      

You can do this procedure to more items like these below to complete your task.

                                                

  

At the end of your all adding items the Timeline you have done will be seen like that.

If you want, you can save draft, save final, send final or print final.

WHEN IT COMES TO SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR ITS USE IN LANGUAGE TEACHING: 

• You can give homework to your students about simple present tense by wanting them to write about their one day by using this Timeline.
• We can want our students to do a "How to project" by using event option in Timeline.
• Or we can want them to talk about their best holiday ever by using simple past and the Timeline, we are sure that they will be more eager to do this homework by using the Timeline rather than just writing because they will be able to add images if they do it via Timeline.
• You can want your students to write a plot or summarize a story which they like most by using Timeline. They will really enjoy it.
